How many exposed patients have been flown from West Africa to the U.S.?
http://news.yahoo.com/us-ebola-evacuations-has-included-more-patients–air-ambulance-operator-says-160126831.html
Thompson said medical privacy laws and his company’s contract with the
State Department prevent him from revealing the figure.
Do they mean American people? Why dont we get that information? They are
doing this all the time? They really dont want the public to know the real
facts.
I know this is asking a lot, but could you mention, from a nurse’s
perspective, what items we should have on hand to weather a month or two
should it come to that? Thanks for the update. I think you’re right, and I
think if this does burn out then at least we stayed informed and did what
we could to protect our families and friends. I talked with someone the
other day who didn’t even know what Ebola was. Can you imagine?! She said
she would rather just be uninformed because it was “less stressful.” Wow.
you have probably seen this, but just in case…

Thanks Sue :-)
One more thing. We should also keep in mind that WINTER is on our doorstep.
They are predicting an early return of the “Arctic Vortex” that kept us in
a deep freeze for several weeks last year. I thought we had it rough here
in the South. Spoke to a friend in Toledo and she said they were at -35
for almost 2 weeks.
Mother Nature is telling us that this is going to be a rough winter. (Ck
out Misty Preppers Persimmon forecast at Heritage Homesteaders. Not
exactly scientific, but it was dead on last year). ALL of the persimmon
pits have shovels in them. The old timers say that means Wet snow. Some
had shovels with no handles. That means ICE. Ice generally means downed
lines and power outages. (note: a few months ago for the first time in 15
years, the power company here in Ky hired extra staff to come through and
clear all of the power lines of trees They generally don’t spend $ for
nothing.)
Power outages mean no central heat and no city water.
Please everyone, do yourself a favor and have an alternative heat source
ready to go, and also water put back just in case. Take Care :-)
Ebola fears after US air marshal attacked with syringe at Lagos airport
http://crofsblogs.typepad.com/h5n1/2014/09/ebola-fears-after-us-air-marshal-attacked-with-syringe-at-lagos-airport.html
Granny Sue, Charles Walton brought up a VERY GOOD point this morning. What
about all of the college students coming into our country from W. Africa?
There are currently -0- screening or quarantine procedures in place. There
are close to 11,000 enrolled around our country now. I had not considered
this. He also gave an account of a woman who works in administration on a
campus. A few days ago she had a new W. African student come in that was
sneezing and coughing all over her. (I can only imagine what it took for
her not to run to the other side of the room.)
Also it was reported tonight that the US has set aside 600 million dollars
for this “effort”. Apparently we are now stepping up in a BIG WAY. (What a
difference 2 days makes). They are putting 24 million into establishing a
treatment facility of 22 beds for Aid Workers in W Africa (not the people).
The question here was “What will over a million dollars a bed buy you?”
And BO wants to send in the military to assist.
My question on that is will he equip them all with Hazmat suits and
respirators? The temps there are in the 100’s. Will they be able to wear
them without passing out from heat stroke? I have read many Aid workers
accounts on how the heat is a serious issue. Can you imagine having to
wear a full rubber suit in the Ky heat and humidity that we have had the
past couple of weeks? Much to contend with.
Thanks Very MUCH Lady! Prepping and Praying as USUAL. 😉
Montreal man with ebola-like symptoms tests negative

Sue, off topic but those are some beautiful Kershaws over your shoulder :-)
My husband and I can stay home, thank goodness, but I worry of those that
have to go to work and school…and many will never stay home to help keep
down the spread of a fatal disease even if they could stay home.
Got most of our stuff, but need more bleach, and will always have enough
food and water… I need another water filter(scribbles on list…) Really
want to come see you but we won’t be over til van is fixed, and if we are
in quarantine, I’ll see you when its clear. Praying Ps 91 no
pestilence/plague shall come near your or our dwellings. Love ya, Sue.
I am interested in getting some stuff home because I guess this thing will
enter EU anytime soon. I am living alone and next to a grocery store. I
have gloves and stuff but I think I need to start prepping tomorrow. I
thought I would not have to as I live next to shops but Granny Sue is right
we need to be able to stay at home for a few days. Does anybody have tips
what to get? Greetings

Great job granny. I appreciate your updates. I agree info is definitely
being withheld for obvious and maybe no so obvious reasons. I’ve been
following this outbreak since Feb 2014 and back in March/April DWB was
pleading with WHO for help and very little came. Now the situation is out
of control and I believe uncontainable. You will see pockets of outbreaks
in the US and globally if they don’t restrict air travel. I know first
hand that a number of US hospitals are completely unprepared for this
event. One more thing, see this CDC fact sheet about Ebola and how it is
spread, 2nd page states that all Ebola strains have demonstrated the
ability to spread through aerosols under research conditions, but this has
never been documented in a real world setting. Researchers currently have
already admitted this virus is mutating rapidly. Perhaps this is the
reason for the exponential component.

Thanks for your time…
I’m sure you’ve mentioned this before Sue, but here’s a link to a map where
you can type in a disease and it will show where there are reports about
that disease (i.e. Ebola). You can look at smaller more local areas up to
entire continents.
